Alison GERNHOEFER Obituary

Very sorry for your loss mum was a wonderful person an mum much love the Mahoney's

Taught at Rotorua Girls High School. She had a wonderful sense of humour, remember a colleague going to Antarctica for the summer and at his farewell Alison gave him a frozen penguin wrapped in a mountain of newsprint. He handed it to DOC people of course. She took all the drama, and inspired my son Peter with the confidence to take up comedy, daughter to take on plays, another daughter to play for the musicals, another son to do the lighting. From our family to yours, we remember times with love. Meals, walks, swimming, The Murphy family from Rotorua.

I was on the school board with Alison for six years and was always full of admiration for her dedication, hard work and loyalty to the school. She set the bar very high for services to education. As well, away from the school, we had a lot of fun with her and enjoyed her liveliness and sense of humor. Our sympathy to all the family in your sad loss and especially Sandy whose lovely wedding we remember so well,
