Always in our hearts Nan.

Eleanor Lawrence. ( née Revell)

June 17, 2017

My Mum. Alice Isobel Georgina Revell née Sloan . (Lived independently) until she was 98 years old. I , Ellie, am her third child born out of six children. Tony her second born died ( haemoragic fever) in her arms at 8 months.
She was my loving Mum and best friend. We were very close. Highly Intelligent, widely read, travelled the world extensively. She had been an excellent shorthand typist and been a PA to a NZ MP.
She lived for and was so proud of extended family, her 5 living children, 11 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren.
Born 17.6.1916 in Palmerston North. Only child of her parents, Isobel Georgina Sloan ( née Crawford) and Frank Coburn Sloan. Her children were Lorna, Tony (deceased) Eleanor (Ellie) Leonie (Tip). Ian and Linda. Late of Milford, Auckland. Her husband Brian Revell (divorced) pre deceased her.
For her 98th birthday my husband John and I travelled from Australia for a celebration. We had 3 precious fun days with her. An early morning fall that John heard, dictated an ambulance. A CT showed a smallish brain bleed which was recoverable we were advised. Later in the ward, she suffered a major incapacitating stroke. Without this she was looking forward to her 100th birthday.
She died on her 98th birthday, at 9 minutes past 1pm after we had all sung her 'Happy Birthday' . I was holding her arm with only her "Johnny Lawrence" beside me, as she suddenly stopped breathing. Earlier, Julie and Adrian had flown to NZ to be together beside you. Devastated.
Her loss is beyond words. An emptiness. A hole that cannot be filled. I along with my own family hear her voice with its absolutely hilarious comments, see her many facial expressions clearly, find her in the multitude of items she bought us, our Aussie room/s she slept in, her huge morning tea cup, the heritage family items she trusted to me, AND the most precious statement she told to me twice to my face !!!!!!!!! A gift beyond anything else.
Mum. Thank you for the gift of my life. Thank you for being so thoughtful, caring, happy and such great company with us whether in NZ or here in Australia. Your thoughtful and many phone calls we all shared. Our many fun holiday trips together. Thank you for such happy warming memories.
YOU ARE SO BELOVED. SO MISSED. You live on in our conversations and many memories constantly, right down to Adrian's 3 children. Julie and Adrian feel just like we do that , You are here with us. Tucked in our hearts and minds . Now asleep. Waiting to be reunited in the soon coming of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I LOVE YOU. ELLIE. XXXXXXXXX
