Dear whanau & feleni of Joan~a giant Totara has fallen in the forest of Tane- a colleague,friend & mentor of 3 generations of our family - thanks to the universe for the long-life gift of her warm heart/ smart brain & deep wairua for all peoples of Aotearoa-she has left a legacy to appreciate & a challenge to pick up and fulfill- I loved & will miss her deeply- thank you for sharing her with nga tangata katou o Aotearoa Elena Meredith- Whakatu/ Nelson

The Epsom Girls Grammar School Old Girls Association sends its condolences to the family and friends of Dame Joan Metge. Dame Joan was one of our Founders Award recipients and a regular attendee of our functions. She was a great supporter of the school and Old Girls Association. Per Angusta Ad Augusta.
