Alice IRWIN Obituary

IRWIN, Alice Molly (Molly) (nee Summerville). Died peacefully on 29 February 2024, aged 93 years. Dearly loved wife of the late Bruce Irwin. Much loved mother of Dianne, Sheryl, Kaye and Cherrie and their partners. Proud Grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Warmest thanks to the amazing staff at the Short Stay Unit, Middlemore Hospital for their wisdom and guidance. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at CHT, Waiuku for their care of Molly over the past 5 months. You will be in our thoughts and hearts forever. A celebration of Molly's life will be held at St Andrews Combined Centre, Queen Street, Waiuku on the 6th March 2024 at 1.30pm followed by private interment at the Waiuku Cemetery.

Way back in the '50s, my Dad (Sylvester Smith) would take me south to stay with family in Waimauku and that's when I first met Molly. She was a popular and cherished 'rellie', and over the years I saw her at family gatherings and reunions. Many years later my wife and I visited Molly in Waiuku a few times and enjoyed her company and hospitality.
She was a wonderful caring person and will be sorely missed.
