Albert STUBBING Obituary

STUBBING, Albert Alexander. It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Albert, who left us peacefully on the morning of March 13, 2025, at the age of 86 surrounded by family. Born on May 13, 1938, in Ngāruawāhia, Albert was a man of great honour, service, and love. He proudly served his country in the New Zealand Regiment, Second Battalion, embodying the values of duty and resilience throughout his life. He was a proud member of Te Roopu Kaumātua, Te Whānau O Waipareira Trust and a passionate Warriors supporter. Albert was a supportive husband to Mereana Stubbing, a loving father to Stephen (late), Marlane and Mark, Roimata and Jonathan, Poutama and Shyree, Theresa and Garry. A cherished Pops to his many grandchildren: Hannah, Simon, Naomi, Luke, Teyah, Ruth, Maia, Ariki, Lili-mae, Charlie, Auryn, and Rawinia. A proud great-grandfather to Susannah Gould. Albert will be remembered for his deep love for his whānau, his care, generosity and provision, and the stories and fun that he shared with all who knew him. His kindness and humour will live on in the memories and hearts of those he touched. Albert is currently lying in state at Tipene Funerals, 31 Paramount Drive , Henderson. The whānau invites those who wish to visit and pay their respects on Saturday from 3.30pm and Sunday from 9am to late. His funeral service will be held on: Monday, March 17, 2025 10:00am (sharp) New Lynn RSA, 2 Veronica Street, New Lynn Following the service, we will lay Albert to rest at Waikumete Cemetery, where he will be reunited with his son Stephen. Whānau and friends are warmly invited to share in this time of remembrance, love, and gratitude for a life well lived. E kore e mimiti te aroha mōu, ka maumahara tonu mātou ki a koe. With love, Mereana, Marlane, Poutama, Roimata and the Stubbing whānau. Do not stand at my grave and weep I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
