On behalf of the family of Alan Taumata, we greet you, one and all. You paid tribute, you bade farewell, you mourned with us and shared the burden of grief. To the caring staff at Avonlea Rest Home, to the Doctors and Nurses at Taumarunui and Waikato hospitals - we thank you for your kind hearts and your sensitive care. To the Catholic Church clergy, Father Vincent Jones and Deacon Danny Karatea- Goddard - the lord be with you both. The duration of the tangi was 5 days. Each and every day, elders were ever-present to ensure our rituals were being upheld. To the first voice, our kaikaranga, our kūia - thank you. To our orators who delivered speeches of welcome to many visiting delegations - thank you. To the hardworking team in our dining-hall Rangiātea - hospitality was a hugely important tradition to Dad. The volume, range and quality of food served ensured this important custom was fulfilled. To our Taumata and Takiwa families - thanks also for the incredible support. Thanks also to the Kākahi marae Commitee. Finally, to Dad's many connections - from his whānau, hapū and Iwi connections to his many community and church friends - thank you all for being part of celebrating Dad's wonderful life. God bless and much love - Ara, Tracey and family. Taumarunui Funeral Sevices Funeral Director's Association of New Zealand.
