To our orators who delivered speeches of welcome to many visiting delegations - thank you. To the hardworking team in our dining-hall Rangiātea - hospitality was a hugely important tradition to Dad. The volume, range and quality of food served ensured this important custom was fulfilled. To our Taumata and Takiwa families - thanks also for the incredible support. Thanks also to the Kākahi marae Commitee. Finally, to Dad's many connections - from his whānau, hapū and Iwi connections to his many community and church friends - thank you all for being part of celebrating Dad's wonderful life. God bless and much love - Ara, Tracey and family. Taumarunui Funeral Sevices Funeral Director's Association of New Zealand.

Sad to hear the news of Alan’s passing. My condolences to the family. I got to know Alan when working at the Evening Post with Ramon over 40 years ago and spent many happy times staying at the lodge with them both. Such wonderful hosts who went out of their way to make me feel at home during my stay. I loved hearing about Alan’s stories and experiences, we had so many laughs. Kakahi is such a peaceful, lovely place and although I haven’t been up there for some time I will miss calling in to visit on my way through Taumarunui. Reunited with his beloved Ramon, Rest in peace Alan.

To Arana and extended family.

Sincerest condolences on the sad passing of Alan, a wonderful man.
We are very sorry we were unable to attend his service today.

Alan and Frank were colleagues and friends at Databank Systems, Wellington, in the 1980s. We kept in touch and in December 1999, Alan officiated at the wedding of Wynne and Frank in Karori.
Alan will always be remembered with Te aroha me te whakaute.
