A poem for Dad

Thinking of you Dad
Your birthday yesterday
Thinking of the precious memories
And all that I would say

So grateful for the time we had
You will never be forgotten
Remembered for your kindness
Caring gestures you gave so often

Remembered for your tenacity
Standing up for what was right
Many people benefitted
From your wisdom and insight

We love you Dad and miss you
It's sad you passed away
But we understand your time had come
We know you did all you could to stay

We look forward to seeing you
When we meet again
In your memory and legacy
We will live life well til then

Lots of love Halyn{author} and family/grandkids xxxxxxxxx

I am very sad to learn from Bruce Conlon that his Dad Alan had passed away in Sept 2016.
I knew Alan at Maeroa Intermediate and Hamilton Technical College.
We later met up through our work the plastics industry.
I admired Alan's drive and determination to make a success of his business.
It was sad to learn of his ill health through his Christmas cards which we had exchanged for a number of years.
Thank you Bruce for letting us know of your fathers passing.

We knew Alan for many years via our business. He would always phone after we had completed an urgent job for him, to express his great appreciation for our help. He was always a gentleman and very pleasant to deal with.
Our deep sympathies to the family.

I'm very sorry for the passing of Alan. I got to know him well over the past year as a priest at St Martin's at St Chad's, Sandringham and Mount Roskill. I greatly enjoyed our chats before services, and I was impressed by his quiet determination and drive. I know he enjoyed my visits, and I'm happy to have been privileged to have been able to bring him a little comfort and encouragement.

I'm so sad you have left us but I realize that you needed to go more than we needed you to stay, you're suffering is over, go in peace my good and forever friend. I will always think of you and miss our chats and visits. I drove past yesterday on my way home when I should have been coming to yours and it was painful and deeply lonesome. Safe journey to your new home, until we meet again, lotsa love....Patricia.
