Aganetha Martens Obituary
Funeral services for Aganetha Martens, age 74 of Seminole, Texas, will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at Sommerfeld Mennonite Church with Pastor Isaak Fehr officiating and Pastor John Schroeder assisting. Burial will follow at Gaines County Cemetery. All services are under the direction of Boyer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Martens was born in Mexico on August 2, 1951 to Justina (Sawatzky) and Bernhard Berg. She married John Martens in Mexico on July 11, 1971. She was a member of Sommerfeld Mennonite Church and a homemaker. Aganetha enjoyed gardening, cooking, and baking; she owned a bakery in Seminole called Martens Donuts. She liked being in the sun and would sit outside for hours enjoying it. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking at the church, and caring for the sick; she would bring them food. Aganetha was a positive, cheerful woman who always spoke her mind.
Aganetha Martens passed away Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Seminole Memorial Hospital in Seminole. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and one son-in-law, Jacob Guenter. She is survived by her husband, John Martens of Seminole; three sons, Henry Martens and wife Lisa, and Ben Martens and wife Margaret, both of Seminole, and Peter Martens and wife Margie of Welch, Texas; two daughters, Justina Guenter of Muleshoe, Texas, and Susie Fehr and husband Abe of Seminole; one sister, Tina Martens and husband Jake of Canada; twenty grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
