JOHNSON — COX. Isaac Henry Johnson and Mary Ellen nee Cox. Isaac Henry Johnson 1847 - 1915 b Fontainebleau Plantation, Jamaica d Whangape, New Zealand. Mary Ellen Cox 1859 - 1894 b Whangarei, d Auckland, New Zealand., daughter of William Augusta Cox 1825 - 1899 b Ireland and Margaret nee Healy 1831 - 1895 b Ireland. William and Margaret married Paramatta, N.S.W, Australia. The story of these pioneers has been recorded in a family history/genealogy book, 'The Accidental Immigrant'. Isaac arrived in New Zealand as an 'articled seaman' aboard the 'Cairngorm' in 1863. Married Mary Ellen Cox, 1884. Mary Ellen's siblings were, Mariah/ Maria b 1849 married Richard Henry Morgan 1886 - William b 1852 married Emmeline Seymour 1873 - Margaret b 1854 married Richard Morgan 1876 - Johanna b 1855 married Thomas Leaning 1876 - Patrick b 1856 married Catherine Kilkenny 1878 - James b 1862 married Elizabeth Margery Taylor 1884 - Anne (Annie) b 1864 married Thomas Chaplin 1883. Today marks the 100th year since Isaac's death. Descendants have arranged a memorial plaque to be placed within the Church foyer of St. Andrews Anglican Church, Whangape.
