Condolences to all who knew Maurice.. I knew him through my dad Rob Carthew
Maurice was a drummer for a band called the escorts back in the late 50s early 60s where they used to play at the Top Hat...... My Dad Rob wrote a book called the accidental Banker an autobiography and a copy was given to Maurice around 10 years ago...
Maurice was a single man like I am at aged 53. Rock on and fly high Maurice... Together again with family again. Hayden Carthew.

Sadly l missed attending Maurice's funeral not having seen the notice. I loved catching up with my second cousin at all the many music concerts he attended and there were very many. I will miss seeing him there. His support was greatly appreciated.

We first met Maurice when we joined the vcommittee of the local branch of NZ Historic Places Trust. Maurice was always an invaluable source of histoic knowledge and good company over the years. I (Denis) was always grateful for Maurices suppport during my time as Chairman of the branch committee which later becaame Historic Places Hawke's Bay. (Note the apostrophe that Maurice was always most insistent on).
We will certainly miss Maurice's historical input & good company.
He had qn extensive collecftion of histoorical archives which we hope have found a good home.
