We lived next door to Russ and Elsie for many years they were great neighbours and friends. When we moved out and rented the house to my
elderly mum they were wonderful to her looked after her like one of their own. I will be forever grateful to them for that. Love to all the family. Sharron and Ron Pratt ex 157 Kingswood road.

Hi, very sorry to hear of the passing of a good old mate, first meet up with Russ & Elsie on the Railways, upon their arrival from the metropolis of Ohakune, in the late 50´s early 60´s.
On hearing of his passing went on a Google map trip over Aramoho and what used to be Station Road, looking to find some great memories of the past, only to find everything has gone.
Do remember the days of working at the then, new Aramoho railways Telephone exchange, and some mornings at 7:30am ringing the hell out of the station bell, to awaken Russ it was time to let us in to work.
Russ was exactly as described by his daughter Sheryn, but unfortunately not invincible, and what a celebration we had upon Sheryn´s arrival into the world, saw the sunrise from Station road.
My thoughts are with the family and their loss at this time, and can only hope that Russ is able to find and join Elsie once again, as they were a great couple.

Dear uncle Russ
It's the end of an era, and so very very sad that we have lost you too. And I do so hope that you are all together again. It was wonderful to have cought up with you recently, it is something I will always treasure.
Greatest sympathy and love to all your family

When I was a child, all problems had ended with "ask mum" lol. A smile from him was sunshine, his scowl a bolt of thunder. He was smart, and generous, and honorable without fail. He could exile a trespasser (JW) check my maths homework, and fix the electrical points, all before dinner. For the longest time, I thought he was invincible.
Above the petty problems that plagued normal people.
My dad didn´t tell me how to live; he lived, and let me watch him do it.
It's not until I got older to appreciate these little things.
Totally .
Love you, Dad
