DONALD RODERICK MacLEAN "Ducky" It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Don MacLean, at the Meaford Hospital on January 11, 2024, surrounded by his immediate family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Catherine; his loving children, Kevin (Sheila) and Lisa (Rob Rennie); dearly loved grandchildren, Jake, Tara (Sam), Julia, Luey, Conor, Declan, Ashlyn (Nate), Nicole, Jamieson, Kendall, Rachel, Julia, Connor and Ava; and great-granddaughter, Elena. Lovingly remembered by Brian (Michelle) Edwards and Lynn (Brian Dueck); and brother-in-law, Don (Wanda) Bick. Don will be deeply missed by his sisters, Peggy Lister and Jessie Iwasiw, and their families. Don was predeceased by his parents, 'Ducky' and Helen MacLean; sister, Cathy; grandson, Dono; and brothers-in-law, Drummond Lister, Ed Iwasiw and Charlie Bick. Don was the founder and Chairman of the Board of MacLean Engineering who had lifelong connections to the mining industry, having been brought up in the mining camps of northern Ontario and Quebec. Don started MacLean Engineering with a vision of improving safety in the underground mining industry and has, over the past 50 years, developed the company to the global mining presence that it has today. Don cared not only about the company, but also about all the employees who helped him build it. He will be greatly missed.
