AUGUSTUS ALMOND Obituary

Augustus John Almond II, known as Jack, 93, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta. Born on July 25, 1931, in Toronto, Ontario, he was the son of Florence Mabel Almond (Chadwick) and Augustus John Almond I. Jack graduated from Humberside Collegiate Institute before pursuing a degree in Business at Western University in London, Ontario. It was there that he met the love of his life, Joan Marie Turney. The two were married while he was still in school, and Jack graduated with honours, setting the stage for a successful career. His professional journey began as the Dean of Business at Humber College in Toronto, where he developed their business program. Jack continued his education by earning a Master's in Education from Brock University. Throughout his career, he seamlessly balanced roles in education and entrepreneurial ventures, making a lasting impact on both fields. In retirement, Jack and Joan moved west and embraced life in Calgary, enjoying winters in sunny Arizona, playing golf, and exploring the west coast in their fifth-wheel trailer. Jack cherished his time marshalling at the local golf club during the summer months, sharing his passion for the sport with fellow enthusiasts. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Marie Turney, and their children: Augustus John Almond III (John) and wife, Lonnie, of Vancouver; Sandra Almond and husband, Bob, of Vancouver; Lyndsey Clapperton of Calgary; and Peter Jorgenson and wife, Sharon, of Vancouver Island. He was a proud grandfather to Mikaila, Jack (Augustus John Almond IV), Billy, Doug and wife, Paige, Mike, Audrey, and Skylar; and great-grandchildren, Niah and Tayla. Jack will be remembered for his dedication to family, entrepreneurial spirit, and love of golf. He touched the hearts of many and leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and inspiration.
