HARVEY FEDELL Obituary

Harvey James Fedell, born August 11, 1939 to Fredricko Dominico Fedell and Lena Matilda (neé Whistle) Fedell, passed on November 3, 2023 from natural causes. A well-known social presence in Thunder Bay, Harvey continued to meet long-time friends for morning coffee and a chat until his last days. He loved to have regular breakfasts with family and the occasional shared dinner for special occasions, but Harvey was always most social in the mornings. Gossip was traded on those mornings and Harvey liked to share how things could be done so much better if only he got to make all the decisions. He was sentimental in ways many of us didn't realise, stowing grandkids' art, cards and even binders of printed emails that meant something to him. He enjoyed being in the country; Hawkeye Lake was a special place for him.

A lifelong volunteer, Harvey used his time and knowledge of hockey to help ensure under-privileged kids got access to expert coaching to realize their potential. He was a retired Commissioner of the Superior International Junior Hockey League and worked for Hockey Development Canada. Harvey received a Meritorious Award from Hockey Canada in 2007 in recognition of his efforts. He was a lifelong Red Wings fan and enjoyed watching any and all local sport.

Fixing cars was both his work and his hobby. He started in his father's garage and continued as a mechanic for much of his working life at Agostino's Garage. In his 20's he worked on the pit crew for Kenny Hacio and considered a career in racing.

Harvey is predeceased by his parents, brother George, sister Betty Berglund and son Domonic. Harvey is survived by sons Mike (wife Lil), Daryl (wife Diane), daughter Cindy (husband Noel) and grandkids Ciara and Mathieu, who will truly miss him.

In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations may be made to a Charity of Your Choice.

A come and go visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 1 to 3 PM at Everest Funeral Home Waverley Chapel, 299 Waverley Street, Thunder Bay.
