MANUERA Eru Ihaka. Lt Col 304479 MC. RNZIR. 1 Rngr Sqn. SAS. Mal\Borneo. Vietnam; Suddenly but unexpectedly at Timaru on Sunday August 5th 2012 aged 74 years. Kua haruru ano te whenua i te hingatanga o tetahi o nga rakau nui a Tane. O tetahi o nga tama toa a Tumatauenga. Kua hinga te tamaiti a Te Aupouri - he uri na Te Houtaewa. Ko koe tena kua rongo i te kukutitanga o nga huha o Hinenuitepo. I kuraina i Kaitaia. I tupu ake i nga marae hoia o te ao. I rongo i te mura o te ahi i ta wahi. I mou i te kakahu o te rangatira. I mou hoki i te tohu mo nga maia. I hinga i roto o te mahanatanga o tona kainga whangai o Timaru. Haere e to matou papa haere hoki atu ki te huihuinga mo te marohirohi. Hoki atu ki o matua tupuna. Hoki atu ki to waka tapu. Hoki atu ki a Sonny, ki a Te Rawhiti (Tiny) kia ratou ma e tatari mai ra ia koe i te Toko o Te Arawa i Te Kao. Takoto mai, hoki mai nau mai e te hoia. Again the earth thunders with the falling of another great tree from the domain of Tane. At the passing of a warrior from the ranks of Tumatauenga, a son of Te Aupouri - a child of great warrior Te Houtaewa. You have felt the crushing thighs of Hinenuite Po. He was educated at Kaitaia. But he grew up in military establishments throughout the world. He wore the mantle of a chief. He was decorated for bravery. He passed away in the warmth of his adopted town Timaru. Farewell father. At rest with your brothers Sonny and Te Rawhiti, Whom you will meet at the gathering for the brave at Te Kao Cemetary - Te Toko o Te Arawa - at rest, welcome home soldier. Beloved husband of Diana, much loved father and father in law of Eru and Jenny, Mark and Nicole, Kiri and Jason, and Lisa. Loved Koro of Grace, and Lucy; Janna, and James; and Bryn.
