HAYMAN, Piers Martin (Aka Arthur). On Waiheke Island, where he was resident. 8 July 1938 - 25 September 2011. As the dawn chorus broke on Sunday 25th September 2011 Piers decided it was time to stretch his wings and move on. Piers died peacefully after an eight year battle with cancer. He was loved for the many facets of his life - folk singer, artist, art educator, tv and radio host, newspaper columnist, ornithologist and author. Friends are welcome to gather at: Wenderholm Regional Park 1pm Sunday 2nd October to celebrate his life. No flowers. Donations to New Zealand Bird Rescue Charitable Trust.
