BRIDGE, William Henry (Henry). On October 12, 1917 Born January 09, 1897 - In sad and loving memory of our dear son and brother, Rifleman W.H. Bridge, who was killed in action at Passchendaele on October 12, 1917. Do not ask us if we miss him, There is such a vacant place, Can we ever forget his footsteps, And his dear kind happy face. Every night, when the sun goes down, And the toil of the day is done, Oh, we long for the son we love so well, And the smile of the lad that is gone. So dearly loved, so sadly missed. Inserted by his loving parents, sisters and brothers, Also his brother George, now on active service. NZ Herald - 12 October 1918

How lovely to see a tribute to young Henry Bridge. My grandmother was Henry's Aunt (Annie Bridge) and he is still fondly thought of today.
It would be good to get in touch with the May family as we are obviously related.
