GLEN, Rev. Brother Richard (Richie). CFC. On August 6, 2016 peacefully at Rannerdale Veterans' Care Home in Christchurch, aged 93 years. Richard was a much loved member of the Christian Brothers' community of Wharenui Road, Riccarton, Christchurch. Richard was the second son of the late John and Esther Glen. Brother and brother-in-law of the late Peter and Stephanie, brother of the late Rosina (Sr. Stephena RSM), Joseph and Joan (Auckland), Esther and the late Reg McLellan (Mosgiel). A much loved uncle and grand-uncle of his many nephews, nieces, grand- nephews and grand-nieces. The Glen Family and the Christian Brothers wish to sincerely thank all the staff at Rannerdale Veterans' Care Home, the staff of The Christchurch Doctors and the home care nurses who looked after Br. Richie so devotedly during his last months. Rest in Peace. Messages to Christian Brothers, 24B Wharenui Road, Upper Riccarton, Christchurch, 8041. The Requiem Mass for Br. Richard will be Celebrated at Our Lady of Victories Church, 106 Main South Road, Sockburn, Christchurch on Wednesday, August 10, at 1.00pm. Followed by interment at the Waimairi Cemetery, Grahams Road, Burnside. A Vigil service will be held for Richard on Tuesday, at 7.00pm, in the Bishop Joyce Centre, next to Our Lady of Victories Church, Sockburn, Christchurch. John Rhind Funeral Directors. Br. Glen was a hard taskmaster but a great teacher. He taught Mathematics and Latin as well as Geography. I remember him for his Latin and this subject has been of interest to me ever since. He was also a keen French Horn player.
