i am Phillip's granddaughter. its been over a year and this may sound cliche but there isn't a day when i don't miss him. we used to spend hours on the phone multiple times a weak talking about nothing, everything and always his latest projects and ideas. we all miss him dearly and are still feeling the emptiness that will never be filled, the place he had in our hearts. forever on our minds, i miss you pop xx

We have just heard of Phillip's passing and wish to send our belated condolences to the Charles family.

We were neighbours for years in Waipu and thoroughly enjoyed the company of Carly and Phillip, many stories and laughs over a cuppa or beer, and Carly always had an Ice cream for our young boys too. A lovely man, a loving couple and a sad loss to their family and to us all.
Reunited with Carly once more. No doubt Alice is with you too! RIP Phillip.
With Love and sadness, Steve and Marama.

Phillip will be very sadly missed by myself and Len. I have only just found out of his passing as we were going to visit him today.
We have sat many times and chatted about many things, mainly birds, or their little feathered lifeless bodies. Now we have no reason to keep their beautiful bodies for Phillip to bring back to life.

We both felt Phillip was a special friend, always so welcoming and always smiling and ready with a cup of tea or coffee. Having him call in on us when he was passing this area was always a pleasure. I don't think I will ever be able to drive past Waipu area without thinking of our dear friend.

My thoughts go out to his family, belated though this is, he was very well thought of by both of us.
Once again, I must learn to keep in touch more often.

Bless you Phillip, may you be surrounded with the love of the souls of the many birds you have given a second life. You and Cary will have a colourful following.

I will have a special cremation of my frozen treasures in your memory.
Much love and caring
Lesley & Len.

Although we never met Phil, we feel like we have known him for ages! We have spoken to Phil so many times over the past 20 years when we (mostly Gary) phoned to order Taxidermy supplies! We will miss talking to you Phil & are saddened that you have been taken so soon! :(
We are deeply shocked by this tragic news & send our heartfelt condolences to all of the Charles family! xxx RIP Phil - reunited with Carly once more! xxx
Love & Prayers to you all - Warmest Regards Gary & Ange xx

I will remember Phillip with great affection, his honesty and no nonsense approach to life, his loyalty to family and friends, his wicked sense of humour, his amazing creativity and his wonderful storytelling abilities.
I will miss being able to visit unannounced although he always made me welcome, no matter what project he was working on.
There was always something new to see, either a new project or some treasure he had found on his last trip.
We are all richer for knowing both you and Carly, and, the world is poorer with your passing.
Rest easy my friend and go with love.
