My mum had the biggest heart - she loved people & was always on hand to offer help & support to anyone who needed it.
She was always looking after the neighbours children, especially in Chilcott Road & keeping an eye on the elderly neighbours with my dad while living in Takapu Street.

Mum was very artistic, whether it was knitting, making a patchwork quilt, a crochet picture or drawing, mum was incredible - proudly displaying her work around her home.

Mum was a social person, always popping into to Henderson to visit the $2 shops to pick up little nick nacks, she was always at the library - often around morning tea time where the staff would give her a cup of tea & biscuits.
Mum would get dad's cowboy books as well as books for herself - coming home with a mountain of books to last them the week.

They used to go for walks together, with dad often getting fustrated with mum when she lagged behind on her walking frame while he wizzed ahead in his scooter, it was quite the sight for anyone who witnessed it.

While she was in Takapu Street, mum attended various clubs & support groups, incl the League Of Mothers with my Aunty Georgina.
They would take along things to raffle off for charity & knit hats & booties for the premature babies.

Mum always thought of others, she had the most loving & caring nature - but you wouldn't want to cross her, she gave as good as she got.

When dad passed away, mum moved into the Arran Court rest home late July 2013 - she adapted well, making new friends with the other residents & going to walks around the rest home in her walking frame - calling in to see people for a chat along the way.

When I used to visit mum, she would always take me for a walk around the rest home, we'd have afternoon tea in the garden & always took a photo - mum was quite photogenic.

When mum had a fall in 2016, it changed her life but mum continued the best she could.

After 16 years in Melbourne, moving back to Auckland to be closer to mum during this time, has been the best decision I have made.

You only get one mum & I really hit the jackpot with mine, she truly is the best mum in the world.

Mum, you are are now reunited with the love of your life, dad is so pleased to be with you again.

Mum - this isn't goodbye - it's farewell for now.

I know you & dad will always be with me, I have two angels looking out for me & that is of great comfort.

I am so proud to be your son, I love you so much my darling mum - rest in peace.
